Miramar Social Security Disability Lawyer and Attorney Randy Zeldin, Esq., is proud to have been serving this suburban community of Ft. Lauderdale for over 30 years. Social Security hearings in Broward County are usually held in the Ft. Lauderdale Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR). In order to expedite the huge backlog of Social Security Disability appeals, the Social Security Administration is increasing the use of Video Teleconferencing (VTC) for Miramar Social Security Disability Claimants. VTC means that the Claimant and her attorney may be situated in the Ft. Lauderdale ODAR location, but the Social Security Judge may be in another city, viewing the proceedings through cameras and a large screen. Miramar Social Security Disability Attorney Randy Zeldin, Esq., represents Miramar Social Security Disability claimants at Video Teleconferencing hearings before Social Security Judges.

The Social Security Administration plans to expand the use of Video Teleconferencing. Some other being considered to speed up the backlog of Social Security cases in Ft. Lauderdale and Miramar, includes greater use of SSA field offices, law office sites and government sites. Moreover, SSA is considering regulations to prevent reimbursement of travel costs for claimants and their representatives when the claimant objects to a scheduled video hearing and therefore must travel with their representative to a farther location for an in-person hearing. Other options include mandatory video hearings and restricting claimants from declining a scheduled video hearing. Miramar Social Security Disability Lawyer Randy Zeldin, Esq. applauds the use of Video Teleconferencing of Social Security Disability claims, as an effective mechanism to speed up the claims process.

In 2011, video hearings comprised about 20% of all Social Security Judges' hearings nationwide. In Ft. Lauderdale and Miramar, the percentage is somewhat less. In fiscal year 2012, to date, the percentage had increased to 22%. It is anticipated that to save costs and to speed up the backlog, video teleconferencing is a permanent part of the Social Security process. The use of video teleconferencing can sometimes minimize the ability of a Social Security Judge to fully assess the claimant, her credibility and the nature of the injuries. On balance however, Social Security Attorney Randy Zeldin, Esq. has determined that Video teleconferencing of Social Security Hearings, still allows Social Security Judges to properly assess the credibility of Claimants and that fair hearings are viable.
